June’s Wish
June had a ‘grand prix’ wish come true when she drove a racing car round Thruxton Circuit.
At our care homes, we believe no dream is too small, and no wish too big. From gentle moments of nostalgia to exhilarating adventures, we’re proud to help make residents’ wishes come true.
Avon Reach resident, John, was on top of the world after our Mudeford-based care home enabled him to achieve a heartfelt wish he had harboured since his teens.

When staff at Avon Reach heard of his long-held wish to fly, they contacted training provider.
Instructors agreed to meet John, show him the flying system of a dual-controlled light aircraft, and supervise a short flight with him in the cockpit.
On board, with Bliss Aviation’s Gary Ashworth next to him and Avon Reach’s Companionship Team Leader Denise Marks seated behind, John donned a set of headphones and made himself familiar with controls.
After a short taxi down the runway, the Piper Warrior was airborne for a 30-minute flight that took in Bournemouth, Sandbanks, and Mudeford Quay.
As a special surprise for John, Gary received permission to alter the flight path so they could fly directly over Avon Reach.
“I had the most beautiful day, seeing my biggest wish come true. It was such enormous fun and it exceeded my expectations. ” – John Hunt, resident at Avon Reach
Denise added: “It was a pleasure and privilege to help John realise his wish. We spotted Avon Reach from the air, and people in the home all saw John flying above them.”
Gary said: “It was humbling to take him up. During and after our flight he had a huge smile on his face. He was genuinely grateful for the fantastic experience arranged for him.”
