  • My Dad went to stay at Fernhill in Nov 2018. We were so fortunate in finding such a lovely home. All the staff are so caring. Dad is looked after extremely well, both physically and the companionship which is so important. He loves the food which is always of a high quality. The home provides many opportunities for residents to enjoy interests such as music and art and also activities to encourage movement, games and to celebrate special days such as Xmas, Easter, sporting events, VE Day to mention just a few. I am confident that Dad is in a safe home in these difficult times which is such a comfort for me. The management and staff are always supportive to the residents and their families. Seeing Dad on Skype in these COVID times is such a plus, he looks so well. The roof garden completed late last year has been such a boon when going out has not been possible, Dad loves that. • My mother has been a resident here for the last 3 years. From day one they have made her life much more comfortable and safe. This is an expertly run care home - it's purpose-built building to the highest standards. There is an exceptional range of activities that are organised for the residents and published in the calendar - relatives are strongly encouraged to attend these. Also worth noting that day trips our (prior to COVID) are arranged - they have their own minibus, plus hairdresser and chef! Best of all is the team that runs this place - that makes all the difference to the quality of life for the residents - they are all truly amazing and dedicated people - thank you so much for caring for my mum.

  • Really excellent care home. Moved mum here a year ago as it was thought she would benefit from a home that specialises in dementia care. The standard of care and facilities has been first class and the staff deserve a special mention as they do an absolutely fantastic job. It is really good to know that in the current situation that loved ones are in the best/safest possible place with the highest standard of care. The ability to have facilitated skype calls during the lockdown has been absolutely brilliant and the home has always seemed to be well ahead of the curve in implementing any measures to keep residents safe. Facilities are all excellent with nice gardens, a cafe, a new roof garden and minibus trips out etc. Highly recommended.

  • I arrived at Brook View on Christmas Eve after being released from hospital following an accident. Despite the short notice, they provided Christmas Lunch for my husband and me. They also arranged for a professional hairdresser to wash my hair - ladies will know the importance of that! Everyone was really friendly throughout my stay, and as I grew more mobile around the building I was addressed by name and with a smile by all, whether or not we had met before. Residents were equally welcoming at the daily activities and I (almost) was sad to leave. The food was delicious with interesting selections and a choice of portion size. Chef visited me in person to check if I had any allergies, so I was not able to order the wrong meal by mistake. We often had home-made cakes and biscuits at afternoon tea. I felt really safe and welcome throughout my stay, as I recovered from the injury and the shock of my accident.

  • Due to my mother in her later days spending a lot of time in various care homes, I consider myself quite experienced in this field! I have, over the past two years on and off, visited a relative at Avon Reach and I can honestly say it is the best care home facility I have ever been in. The entrance is welcoming and the staff are always helpful and friendly. All the rooms I have been in are well decorated and extremely clean and a particular favourite part of mine is walking up the stairs and see the nostalgic pictures on the wall. The relative I visited always said 'it was her hotel' and everything about the place, including the food and wine, is a credit to all involved. A sincere thank you to everyone and one day you might have me as a guest - but not too soon I hope!

  • I want to thank everyone at Amberwood House for all the care they have provided. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They have been great, especially as it has been a tough time over the last few weeks not being able to see my friend regularly. It is lovely that we are able to start visiting again even with restrictions.

  • Although I found it quite strange living in a care home initially, I feel far more relaxed about it now. The staff are very good from the young ones to the elderly ones; they are all really lovely. On the whole, I enjoy the meals, but I am a fussy eater. If I ask for something special, the staff always try to get it for me. The gardens are very well maintained, and I enjoy spending time sitting outside.

  • Amberwood staff do really well looking after us all. The food and the way it is served is very appealing always with nice choices, good cutlery and serviettes. Coffee is good too. The staff take their time, they are kind and always on the go. You can ask them any questions. I don't stay up too long, and I enjoyed the art classes in the morning.

  • I have just returned from seeing my mum in Avon Cliff for the first time since lockdown. I would like to thank the whole team for keeping her and all the residents safe these past few months. I was a bit worried beforehand as she has dementia and I was concerned she would have forgotten me. I needn't have worried as she was bright and happy and recognised me straight away. Can you pass on my thanks to all the team at Avon Cliff for all their hard work.
