Tiki time at The Aldbury for Chris’ 77th bash
The Aldbury care home was transformed into a tropical paradise recently as residents, relatives and staff gathered to celebrate resident Chris’ 77th birthday with a lively Hawaiian-themed party.
The celebration marked Chris’s first birthday at the home, and he and his partner Steve were transported back to their flamboyant party days, surrounded by colourful leis, tropical décor, and upbeat music.
The event drew an enthusiastic crowd, with many guests donning bright Hawaiian shirts and flower garlands to get into the spirit.
Entertainer Steve Whalley provided the musical backdrop for the afternoon, performing a lively set that quickly got everyone moving. Residents Linda Rice, Edna Astell, and Margaret Loh were among those leading the charge on the dancefloor, earning the affectionate nickname “The Dancing Queens” from fellow partygoers.
Tropical mocktails and fruit platters were served throughout the afternoon, adding to the island atmosphere and ensuring everyone stayed refreshed while singing along and tapping their feet to the music.
Chris had one birthday wish – that everyone at The Aldbury enjoy the celebration – and by all accounts, that wish came true.
Chris’s partner Steve said: “What a fabulous party. It was great to see residents, relatives and staff all enjoying a fun-filled afternoon with dancing and entertainment. Everyone looked brilliant in their outfits. Huge thanks to the team for all their hard work – you should be very proud.”
Another guest added: “The Aldbury really knows how to throw a party!”
