Moving into Our Home

We understand that choosing a dementia care home is a significant step, not just for the person moving in, but for their whole family. At The Aldbury, our approach is warm, personal, and reassuring from the very start. We guide you through each stage with compassion, clear communication, and practical support to help everyone feel confident and at ease.

“Everything regarding the move was carefully planned through. To visit him the next day, sitting calmly in the lounge, chuckling away having his hair cut by the hairdresser was a priceless moment.” – M P, Daughter of Resident – carehome.co.uk review

Personalised Care that Reassures Families

Confidence in care begins with truly knowing the individual. That’s why we use ‘All About Me’ profiles to capture each resident’s unique preferences, routines, and life story. It’s these small details that help build familiarity and trust.

Families play a central role in this process, helping us understand not just clinical needs, but emotional, cultural, and spiritual priorities too. Our open-door policy means you’re always welcome to speak directly with our Home Manager, Martin Corrigan, or any member of the team, whenever you need reassurance.

A Thoughtful and Supportive Transition

Moving into a new home can feel daunting, so we do all we can to make the transition feel gentle, familiar, and positive.

  • Warm Family Involvement: We encourage families to join us for lunch or visit informally before the move, helping everyone feel comfortable in the new surroundings.
  • Personal Touches: From favourite furnishings to familiar routines or a preferred armchair, we support continuity by incorporating the personal touches that matter.
  • Building Connections: We thoughtfully introduce residents to others with shared interests, helping friendships and a sense of belonging grow naturally.

Support That Continues Beyond Day One

Settling in takes time. Our experienced care team is on hand throughout the transition to provide reassurance, companionship, and support.

Within the first two weeks, we invite residents and families to complete our First Impressions Survey to share feedback on how things are going. At six weeks, we hold a Care Review Meeting with families and our clinical team to reflect on the settling-in process and make any necessary adjustments to care plans, routines, or support.
