A Dance A Day Keeps The Doctor Away
The residents of The Aldbury had a delightful time participating in our ‘Strictly Armchair & Singalong’ event.
Dancing is a simple and enjoyable activity that can be done anytime and anywhere. The residents gathered in a large circle, waving colourful pom poms to the beat of the music while singing along. We asked everyone to share their favourite dance songs, which included ‘Mamma Mia,’ ‘Que Sera Sera,’ ‘Dancing Queen,’ ‘You are My Sunshine,’ ‘Sailing,’ ‘She’ll Be Coming Round The Mountain,’ and ‘Let’s Twist Again.’
Gladys and Joy swayed their pom poms while singing “Sailing” by Rod Stewart. Elsie couldn’t stop tapping her feet. Jean, Enid, Cynthia, and Dotty shook their pom poms to the beat of “Twist & Shout.” Joyce, Hobi, Gwen, Beryl, Ruth, and Kenneth kicked their legs to “She Will Be Coming Round The Mountain.” Joan showed off her impressive dance moves and enjoyed dancing with all the residents in turn. Housekeeping Team Leader Kanya Brannon also joined in on the fun.
The dance session ended with a cool-down song, “When You Are Smiling.” Companion Melissa encouraged all the residents to smile while they swayed their heads and hands. Moving to music undoubtedly boosted our energy levels and lifted our spirits at The Aldbury. Dancing is great for the brain as it combines memories with physical coordination. It can improve balance, circulation, and overall body strength. A dance a day keeps the doctor away!.
