A Sensory & Active Easter Weekend
Our residents at The Aldbury had an exciting Easter weekend full of sensory activities.
We gathered together and made egg shakers by sitting around a table. Joyce, Frank, and Brian focused on filling the shakers with beans, rice, and buttons while Beryl, Gwen, and Jeanette happily tied ribbons and hung them on the tree branches that our gardener had previously cut from our garden. Ruth tested each egg shaker to make sure it had a pleasant sound.
We used the egg shakers during our Easter Sunday Service and for a big garden and courtyard egg hunt. Companion Melissa and Simone from our housekeeping department escorted the residents to the garden and courtyards for the Egg Shaker Hunt on a beautiful sunny day. The residents were given bright bags to collect their egg shakers, and more than 20 were collected. Residents, relatives, and staff all participated in the fun.
Joyce, Cynthia, and Jeanette won the egg hunt by collecting the most eggs and were thrilled to receive a box of chocolates as a prize. Chocolate eggs were also given out to all participants. It was a sensory, active, and EGGciting Easter weekend!
