A Unique Creative Afternoon Making Music With BSO Young Associates

Today’s session was led by Hugh Nankivell at our home, The Aldbury. Hugh is an extremely experienced facilitator, working with people in care homes and hospitals.
The Aldbury had a unique and fabulous music-making afternoon with BSO Young Associates Tammy Sullivan and Ed Lee. Tammy played the Oboe, and Ed played the guitar. Our residents had great input, helping our young BSO Associates write the lyrics to go with their music tune. Resident Valerie said, “The song sounds very relaxing and mellow,” so we decided to call the song “Mellow & Relaxing.”
Cynthia came up with the name for our new music band: “We All Go Blank” as we all went blank when Hugh asked everyone, “What should we call our new music band?”. A second song was played, with all residents playing different musical instruments: drums, xylophone, and shakers. Elizabeth decided to name this one “Guess Who I Am?”. She said it’s upbeat and jolly.
Tammy and Ed talked about their musical instruments. Tammy introduced the Oboe and the reeds. Hugh played the piano while everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and cake at the end of the session!
A BIG THANK YOU to our BSO guests for such a creative and fun afternoon! Looking forward to having you all again!
