Acts of Kindness

The Aldbury residents regularly attend the ‘Stepping Out Community Tea Dance’ every month, which is organised by former professional ballroom dancers Hazel, Dorothy, and Gerry.

The Douch Family Funeral Directors host this community tea dance at the Broadstone War Memorial Hall, which features lively music and sing-alongs for those with memory loss and their caregivers. Our residents have been attending for the past nine months and particularly enjoy themselves, especially Joan Perrin and Phyllis Haiyne, who used to be ballroom dancers themselves.

The Douch family organises various groups and activities within the community, such as lunch events, book clubs, and Knit and Natter. This knit and natter club recently donated twenty colourful lap blankets for our residents, which we are very grateful for.

In January and February, The Aldbury will be providing homemade cakes and biscuits for everyone attending the tea dance afternoons, including members of the public and our residents. This is because Dorothy, who usually bakes them, will be away and has approached us to ask if we could provide them on these days. We are happy to oblige, and we hope that our cakes and biscuits are just as delicious as Dorothy’s.
