Ambiance of Egypt

10 January 2024

The Aldbury residents easily embraced the Egypt theme this afternoon, even spelling their names in hieroglyphics enclosed in a cartouche style, just like the pharaohs did in ancient Egypt times!

Staff also jumped in to make their own cartouches. We had an ambiance of ancient Egyptian music played by our Alexia.

Companion Team Leader Sue provided residents and staff with facts about Egypt and the ancient Egyptians, such as how it only rains approximately 2cm a year. “Wow,” said Cynthia when informed that the Giza pyramid is made up of approximately 2.3 million limestone blocks carefully chiselled by workers and took many years to finish!

Companion Pauline helped Tony with an Egyptian word search that named some of the Egyptian deities that were worshipped.

It seems to be a popular theme, and we’ll carry it out again very soon – we may even bring back our senior clinical lead to dress as a mummy again, like last time!
