Homemade Poetry

9 August 2023

Companion Pauline sat with the residents recently and asked them to help create a poem.

Brian was very quick with making a poem, the words danced straight off of his tongue. Everyone enjoyed listening to these made-up poems as well as reminiscing about familiar rhymes they used to hear as children and the ones which they used to recite to their children.

Everyone felt happy with joining in and remembering the rhymes:

There was a young lady from Eling,
Whose temples were always aching,
She practised all night with a pillow for a fight,
Then ended up looking at the ceiling.

There was a young lady called Nelly
Always ate ice cream and jelly
Again and again, she had such a pain
And the name of the doctor was Kell
What started well ended well.
