Remembering the fashions of years gone by

9 January 2023

This activity was remembering the 40s 50s and 60s music and fashions.

Residents were given the opportunity to don their chosen attire from the activity costume dress-up collections and reminisce while having a lot of fun. Frank taught Sue, the companion team leader how to jive, while Melissa and Hobi twisted the afternoon away. Tina favoured the Elvis look, while Elizabeth chose the forties look, with a fascinator and scarf. Peter and John had the Hippy look going too, complete with coloured glasses and headbands.

We danced and sang to the Everly Brothers, Eddie Cochran, Jerry Lee Lewis – there was a ‘whole lotta of shakin goin on’! And of course, Elvis, with our blue suede shoes!

A lovely fun afternoon where all residents could relax and reminisce from their past which leads to positive emotions, bringing back moments long forgotten, or moments residents still remember bringing a sense of belonging and participation.
