Reminiscing Roy Orbison

29 July 2024

Cut-out face masks were the closest we could get to having the real Roy Orbison at The Aldbury.

Tina recently expressed a wish to attend a Roy Orbison concert again, having seen him many times in the past, as he is one of her favourite performers. Tina and her daughter often reminisce about the past and their experiences of seeing Roy live. We dedicated an afternoon to playing some of Roy’s classic hits, including “Penny Arcade,” “Pretty Woman,” and “I Drove All Night.” It was heart warming to see Tina close her eyes, sing along, and relive those moments.

These Roy Orbison songs evoked memories for many of us, as his career spanned from 1936 to 1988, covering over 50 years.

Music is a wonderful tool for connecting with memories, especially for those living with dementia, and it continues to have a positive impact.
