There is tremendous satisfaction to be had working in elderly care, supporting the best quality of later life for people living in our care homes. Our maintenance teams provide practical help, support, advice and reactive repairs, helping maintain safe, reliable facilities that are essential to our residents’ individual well-being.
Our Maintenance teams play a crucial role in ensuring that our facility operates smoothly and that our residents receive the care they need. Under the supervision of the Home Manager and Facilities & Estates Manager, these teams provide routine maintenance and minor repairs as needed.
Their duties include conducting monthly tests and inspections on various equipment, such as fire doors, water temperature outlets, fire extinguishers, security doors, internal and external lighting, wheelchairs, window restrictors, reclining chairs, and nursing beds.
Working in maintenance requires a diverse range of skills and knowledge in building and mechanical services. Experience in a trade such as electrical work, carpentry, or plumbing can be beneficial for the role, as well as a keen eye for detail. Our Maintenance teams work collaboratively to ensure that our residents’ needs are met and that our facility runs smoothly at all times.
Joining our maintenance team provides a unique opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of health and safety systems and processes within our care homes. In addition to the water, heating, and lighting systems, you will also become knowledgeable in areas such as security and the safe use of equipment, including lifts, alarms, and specialist beds and baths.
Our team of expert Regional Maintenance Managers will work closely with you to expand your skill set and knowledge, enabling you to collaborate more effectively with the Home Manager and external contractors who support our maintenance efforts.
As a member of our maintenance team, you will have the opportunity to build lasting relationships with all stakeholders, including colleagues, external contractors, and most importantly, our residents. You will be an integral part of our mission to provide the highest quality of care and support to those in our community.
