Experience is not necessary for a role as a Health Care Assistant; instead, we seek individuals who will share our passion and dedication towards our residents. Our priority is to ensure that they can live safely, happily, and comfortably.

You must be willing to be hands-on with residents, providing assistance whenever necessary. Additionally, possessing organisational skills, a strong work ethic, resilience, keen observation skills, attention to detail, and a sense of fun are all essential qualities for the role.

Being friendly, kind, honest, reassuring, and an effective communicator are equally important elements for success in this role.

Progression Opportunities

You’ll have the opportunity to advance your career at Colten Care. You can progress to management roles, become a Senior Health Care Assistant, and even train to become a Nurse through a clear career structure.

To begin your journey, work towards achieving a QCF Level 2 diploma or QCF Level 3 certification. Once completed, you could join our Student Nurse Associate Programme, which will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to become a Nurse.

As a Nurse, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and provide high-quality care to our residents with confidence and empathy. The programme covers comprehensive care planning, allowing you to become an expert in caring for those with longer-term conditions, ensuring our residents receive the best care possible.

While prior experience in a care setting can be beneficial, it’s not a necessity. However, volunteering or work experience can strengthen your application.

We are committed to providing comprehensive training and support to all our Health Care Assistants, regardless of their previous experience. From day one, we will provide you with a thorough induction, guiding you through all aspects of person-centred care, and equipping you with the necessary skills to make a real difference in the lives of our residents.

In addition, we are proud to be able to sponsor an increasing number of our Health Care Assistants to achieve a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care. This qualification will enable you to enhance your knowledge and skills, and provide even better care to our residents and progress in your career to more senior roles.
