We are committed to supporting our staff in achieving their career goals. We understand that your future is important to you, which is why we provide innovative learning and development programmes tailored to your individual needs and goals, helping you reach your full potential and provide high-quality care to our residents.
Investing in you
We recognise the importance of investing in you. We have a dedicated in-house Learning & Development Team who provide opportunities for career growth and professional development, with the goal of delivering exceptional care to our residents and their families.
Given the complex medical needs of many of our residents, it is crucial for our team to continually build clinical leadership skills and maintain a highly skilled workforce.
When you join our team, you can be assured that we will support and invest in your personal and professional growth. We offer a diverse range of courses, on-the-job training, and recognition for qualifications, helping you to enhance your skills and talents.
Ongoing Training
Investing in the ongoing training of our team members is essential, as it enables individuals to develop skills and behaviours that impact upon the provision of outstanding care.
Regular training also contributes to your personal development throughout your career, and the enhancement of your own personal practice as a care professional.
Our training covers a broad range of topics, including clinical training, manual handling, basic life support, dementia awareness, infection control, and more, all essential to deliver high-quality care to our residents.
“We believe that investing in our team through training and continual professional development, is investing in the future of our business and the wellbeing of our residents” – Pete Stark – Care Trainer
ENHANCING YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Colten Care offers a wide variety of apprenticeships for staff across various fields, including Care, Business Administration, Customer Service, Chef roles, and Hospitality. These apprenticeships are designed to support career development and enhance the quality of care provided to our residents.
The qualifications range from Level 2 to Level 5 and include programs such as Adult Care Worker Level 2, Hospitality Supervisor Level 3, Chef De Partie Level 3, and Leader in Adult Care Level 5. This comprehensive selection of qualifications enables our staff to pursue apprenticeships that align with their career goals and aspirations within the care sector.
ENHANCING YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
In partnership with Solent University, our Student Nurse Associate programme combines in-person and online academic study with placements across various care settings, including care homes, hospitals, GP practices, and community settings.
Designed to bridge the skills gap between carers and registered nurses, the Student Nurse Associate programme is a nationally recognised associate role that leads to formal enrolment as a Registered Nursing Associate with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
“Working for Colten Care has given me an opportunity to be better, more knowledgeable and clinically equipped, through regular training and support.” – Makibu, Nurse at The Aldbury
DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS
The Colten Leadership Academy aims to help our staff in leadership and management roles deepen their self-awareness and enhance their ability to lead and manage effectively. Through self-reflection and the development of key leadership skills, participants learn how to bring out the best in their teams and excel in their roles.
Led by our Learning & Development team, this programme is designed to enhance leadership skills and support participants in their roles and beyond.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE DAYS
The concept of “One Team” is crucial in ensuring that we provide our residents with the best possible care. Our commitment to this idea is reflected in the various areas we focus on, such as Connecting Through Dementia, Clinical Excellence, and Companionship & Activities.
To support and encourage our staff to continuously improve, we organise conference days that provide an ideal forum for them to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and develop their skills. These events are an excellent opportunity for our team to collaborate, share best practices, and explore new approaches to enhance the quality of care we provide to our residents.
By empowering our staff to make a real difference in the lives of our residents and with a shared commitment to excellence in care, we can continue to create a supportive, safe, and enriching living environment that our residents deserve.
OUR PROMISE
Our goal is to align our efforts with our Colten Care Learning and Development Promise. This promise reflects our commitment to:
