Learning & Development

We are committed to supporting our staff in achieving their career goals. We understand that your future is important to you, which is why we provide innovative learning and development programmes tailored to your individual needs and goals, helping you reach your full potential and provide high-quality care to our residents.

Investing in you

Personal and Professional Growth

We recognise the importance of investing in you. We have a dedicated in-house Learning & Development Team who provide opportunities for career growth and professional development, with the goal of delivering exceptional care to our residents and their families.

Given the complex medical needs of many of our residents, it is crucial for our team to continually build clinical leadership skills and maintain a highly skilled workforce.

When you join our team, you can be assured that we will support and invest in your personal and professional growth. We offer a diverse range of courses, on-the-job training, and recognition for qualifications, helping you to enhance your skills and talents.

Ongoing Training

Developing Skills and Behaviours

Investing in the ongoing training of our team members is essential, as it enables individuals to develop skills and behaviours that impact upon the provision of outstanding care.

Regular training also contributes to your personal development throughout your career, and the enhancement of your own personal practice as a care professional.

Our training covers a broad range of topics, including clinical training, manual handling, basic life support, dementia awareness,  infection control, and more, all essential to deliver high-quality care to our residents.

“We believe that investing in our team through training and continual professional development, is investing in the future of our business and the wellbeing of our residents” – Pete Stark – Care Trainer

ENHANCING YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Diplomas In Health and Social Care

Our Health Care Assistants have the opportunity to complete diplomas in Health and Social Care, providing learners with the skills and knowledge required to progress in a career in the health and social care sector. With this foundation they can progress to management roles, become a Senior Health Care Assistant, or even train to become a Nurse through our clear career structure.

ENHANCING YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Trainee Nurse Associate Programme

In partnership with Solent University, our Trainee Nurse Associate programme combines in-person and online academic study with placements across various care settings, including care homes, hospitals, GP practices, and community settings.

Designed to bridge the skills gap between carers and registered nurses, the Trainee Nurse Associate programme is a nationally recognised associate role that leads to formal enrolment as a Registered Nursing Associate with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

“Working for Colten Care has given me an opportunity to be better, more knowledgeable and clinically equipped, through regular training and support.” – Makibu, Nurse at The Aldbury

DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Colten Nurse Academy

Our Nurse Academy aims at nurturing the leadership and management skills of aspiring Clinical Leads among our nursing staff.

It involves a combination of online and in-person training, spanning several months and covering a range of subjects to enable nurses to upskill for the next stage of their careers.

This program addresses the need for a more structured career progression path for our nurses who are keen to pursue managerial roles. Through formal training, our nurses will acquire the necessary skills to prepare them for their next promotion opportunity.

Our commitment to the Nurse Academy is a testament to our appreciation for the valued individuals who work with us. By providing them with the resources and support they need to grow professionally, we are also improving the quality of care for our residents.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE DAYS

We are “One Team”

The concept of “One Team” is crucial in ensuring that we provide our residents with the best possible care. Our commitment to this idea is reflected in the various areas we focus on, such as Dementia Utopia, Clinical Excellence, and Companionship & Activities.

To support and encourage our staff to continuously improve, we organise conference days that provide an ideal forum for them to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and develop their skills. These events are an excellent opportunity for our team to collaborate, share best practices, and explore new approaches to enhance the quality of care we provide to our residents.

By empowering our staff to make a real difference in the lives of our residents and with a shared commitment to excellence in care, we can continue to create a supportive, safe, and enriching living environment that our residents deserve.
