Colten’s remarkable journey

Celebrating 1,675 years of dedicated service

In a world where loyalty and commitment are increasingly rare, the employees of Colten stand out as a shining example of dedication.

Colten is made up of Colten Developments and Colten Care, founded in Lymington in 1971 and 1981 respectively by John Colwell and Adrian Otten (1940-2021).

Building Excellence, Nurturing Lives: Colten’s Enduring Legacy of Care

Colten is an independent, family-owned group which has always had a reputation for excellence within the communities in which it serves whether that is in building over 1,700 properties including 18 luxury care homes, or for nurturing and caring for nearly 14,000 care home residents to date.

This enduring legacy is a testament to the steadfast commitment of Colten employees and the quality of care and service they deliver. The heart of any organisation is its people, and Colten is no exception. The organisation takes immense pride in the loyalty their staff have demonstrated over the years.

Colten Club’s Annual Celebration

Every year, Colten celebrates this special relationship with long-serving staff by hosting a ‘Colten Club’ outing. The Colten Club is reserved for those who have been employees for 20 years’ or more, and between them, the 72 members have amassed a remarkable 1,675 years of service.

This year’s day out took place at the picturesque Chewton Glen, where staff were treated to a spectacular afternoon. It was an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate the amazing achievements of Colten and their much-loved, long-serving employees.
