Canford Chase: Where Creativity Begins 

Art is expressive and there are many ways to express art. Creativity shines in different ways.  

We made heart canvases using a mandala technique. Previously we made a bunny canvas using brush paintings.

Next we made a heart stencil, which we attached to our canvas with Blu Tack, and then mixed-up different colours. Then we used a dotting process around the edge to produce a silhouette of the heart in the middle.

Mandalas are a creative way to produce art with symmetry. We used a cotton bud to make the dots and the residents used different colours to form a pattern.

We discussed their thought process as they made their canvases and which colours they used, as we each chose different colours.

Anne spoke of trying water colour painting and finding it wasn’t for her, commenting that it was “a big mess” and “not so much art!”
