Winchester Cathedral

8 February 2024

Doris had expressed a heartfelt wish to revisit Winchester Cathedral, a place she had fond memories of from years ago.

Eager to fulfil her wish, Doris and four other residents joined us for a full-day excursion to the cathedral, departing Wellington Grange at 10 am.

We took the scenic route across the South Downs, soaking in the beauty of the landscape adorned with snowdrops and other picturesque sights.

Upon our arrival, we embarked on a guided tour of the cathedral, allowing residents to choose which parts they wanted to explore.

Elizabeth was particularly keen on learning about William, and our knowledgeable guide Paul provided fascinating insights into William’s history and other intriguing aspects of the cathedral.

To our delight, we discovered that the ‘Festival of the Moon’ was currently on display at Winchester Cathedral, adding an extra layer of wonder to our visit.

After a delightful lunch at the cathedral café, we returned to enjoy a lunchtime performance by Lucy Cox and Tom Jesty, a talented singer and pianist. It was a magical experience set against the backdrop of the magnificent cathedral.

Doris was overjoyed to have the opportunity to revisit Winchester Cathedral, cherishing every moment of our wonderful day together.
