Nursing Care

Kingfishers’ nurses are available for all residents, at all times. We believe that’s the bedrock of a safe and happy home, providing nurse-led care to manage complex medical conditions, whilst ensuring all residents can stay within their familiar and comfortable home setting should their care needs change.

The Reassurance of Around-The-Clock Nursing

We employ our own highly-skilled nurses to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This sets us apart from many other care operators who, over the last 10 years, have moved away from providing nursing care, instead relying on visiting community nurses.

We have always believed that nursing is an intrinsic part of elderly care, and our nurses play a crucial role in ensuring our “All About Me” philosophy of care is delivered to our residents.

They oversee the care of residents, delegating responsibility to senior care leads and carers whilst also taking a hands-on role in areas such as administering medication, keeping track of nutrition and fluids, managing wound care and much more.

Their presence in the home at all times of the day and night provides tremendous reassurance to residents and their families, knowing that a familiar face is on hand to provide whatever care they need, whenever they need it.

Individually Tailored Care Plans

We treat every resident as an individual, and build individually tailored care plans focussed on the resident’s needs to ensure they feel safe, involved and supported.

Led by our nurses, a resident’s care plan makes sure the whole team is working toward the same goals, and it’s constantly reviewed so that it can be adapted to reflect changing needs and preferences.

Care planning is an on-going process. Our ‘All About Me’ care philosophy puts the resident at the heart of all we do, and their care plan sits centrally to this approach.  Our nurses ensure residents’ physical and psychological needs are prioritised, and that their individual preferences are respected by everyone involved in their care.

“I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful home. The whole Kingfishers team are truly amazing – they provide outstanding nursing care.” – A S, friend of resident at Kingfishers

Reassuring Familiarity

Our nurses are always present in the home, and will get to know you and your loved one. They’ll be available for catch-ups during visits and will promptly share any condition changes, keeping you informed and engaged in the care of our loved one.

Individually Tailored Care

“Our ‘All About Me’ approach embodies our care ethos. It’s a care plan and philosophy that honours your loved one’s individuality. Their needs, preferences, and lifestyle are embraced by the entire team. Guided by our nurses, the care plan aligns the team’s efforts, evolving to match changing needs and preferences.”

Thorough and Responsive

With an detailed understanding of your loved one’s unique requirements, our nurses swiftly detect and address changes in their condition. It could be subtle changes like diet, mood, or sleep, with these changes can arise anytime. That’s why round-the-clock nursing is crucial and receiving immediate care can prevent potential complications from surfacing.

Future Care Planning

While your loved one might not need daily nursing care now, that could change in the future. When that moment comes, they can continue living in their familiar and cosy home here with us. If, in the future, we’re together until the end, our palliative care-trained nurses will use their unique understanding of your loved one and relationship with you to support them to die with dignity, in a peaceful environment.
