Music of old beautifully restored

16 April 2024

It was lovely to see Patricia and Pamela taken a task on to clean these old music sheets.

They set themselves up in Badgers Den and methodically cleaned each page with dry cloths and lots of patience.

It was a wonderful trip down memory lane as Pamela looked at old music sheets and reminisced about playing the piano during the war when she was 15 or 16.  She played dance music for the Community singing group.

Growing up in Marchwood in the wartime years Pamela speaks fondly of a dance hall which was made of corrugated iron and painted red. The shared space was enjoyed by the local community and military personal who would come together and dance.

The American troops who also visited the dance hall bought the jive with them and thus taught Pamela and her friends how to jive. Patricia has a great ear for music and love singing.

Very often we hear Patricia playing the piano in the dining room to the delight of the other residents and staff.
