‘Spring Watch Wildlife’at The Aldbury

1 May 2024

Residents at The Aldbury love spending time in our garden and enjoy the nature it brings to them.

To attract more wildlife into our garden, we consulted with our chosen charity for this year, which is ‘Wildlife in Need.’ This prompted us to start a project of our very own named ‘Spring Watch Wildlife.’ We tried to start our project earlier, however with the weather not being on our side, we had a slightly delayed start, but we are back on track!

To get the most from our project, we have included the project in our weekly garden clubs and Saturday’s purposeful tasks. The first project is to create a bug hotel. We work alongside Canford School Students who come and help us every Monday, in whatever we are up to at the time, as they are looking at wildlife at school, this fits in great.

We have called our bug hotel ‘BUG’ingham Palace, which was chosen by Joyce, “We are posh here, we don’t have hotels, we have a palace instead!” she exclaimed! We collected twigs and pinecones with residents during our garden walks, which we also tied together with twine, to help keep them in a tight bundle, which will help the bugs get comfortable in their new palace!

We will have more projects planned, which will keep us busy over the coming weeks.
