Sohail Daniel, Home Manager of Bourne View

Welcome to Bourne View

I’m Sohail Daniel, Home Manager of Bourne View, the latest in a growing family of 21 Colten Care homes.

All Colten Care homes are designed, built and run to reflect what we have learned from our residents’ experiences and feedback going back more than 30 years. The result is a living environment where well trained, professional and well supported team members deliver the highest standards of care and help residents lead fulfilling lives. Bourne View blends the reassurance of 24/7 nursing-led care with the opportunity to find space for relaxation, reflection and companionship – all in gorgeous, homely surroundings. For a sense of just how amazing Bourne View is, please take a virtual tour.

Call 01202 403180 or email: bourneview@coltencare.co.uk, to make an appointment to view the home. I appreciate that many people are busy during the working day so appointments can be made out of working hours to suit your availability.  If it is difficult for you to come to the home I would be happy to have an initial meeting at your residence to talk through what we offer and the facilities at Bourne View.  Transport to come and visit the home could then be arranged if needs be.

We had a fantastic time at our Open Day on the 11th April. In the morning, our visiting professionals were joined by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Mr Angus Campbell, who officially opened the home. In the afternoon the well-known broadcaster and writer Dr Hilary Jones, was on hand to share his insight into what makes great elderly care. He said "Bourne View is a stunning building with impeccable interior design. I firmly believe Bourne View will become synonymous with feelings of dignity, compassion, companionship, energy and activity. All of these are here in abundance under one roof.” Please click here to watch our Open Day video.

Chief Executive, Mark Aitchison, said "In my role as CEO I have a very simple mission for Colten Care, I call it 1:2:1.  We are One Team, with Two objectives to be the care provider of choice and employer of choice, with One Goal – our residents and the care they receive. In every sense, Bourne View is ready to join our other 20 homes and become a beacon of care excellence." An oasis of care and companionship at Bourne View

Set in a nature reserve, Bourne View brings new standards in comfort and sophistication for later-life in Dorset. With the perfect balance of the quiet natural surroundings and urban conveniences of Bournemouth and Poole, it’s a welcoming new purpose-built home, offering the highest quality residential and nursing care. Each element of our home has been carefully considered to create interior and exterior environments in which our residents can live with dignity, comfort and pride.

Bourne View is the latest home to be developed by the Colten Group based in Ringwood. We are a family-owned company with over 30 years operational experience in residential and nursing care. We design, develop and run the very highest quality care homes across the south of England. All our 20 established homes have been rated ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ by the CQC and we are rated as one of the top UK care home providers on the independent care home site carehome.co.uk.

We proudly welcome Bourne View into our family of homes, each which has its own distinctive character but benefits from a tremendous central support network and is underpinned by Colten Care's promise and values.

Our handpicked suppliers

Colten Care's approach is to always use local suppliers where possible, from the food we serve our residents, to the furniture in our homes. We have been working alongside Lymington-based Webber Furniture, a family carpentry firm, for more than eight years. Working solely in hand-crafted oak, they have made most of our dining room and bedroom furniture. Fabrication firm Fusion, also in Lymington, have also created our art-deco-style vanity units, specially designed to enable wheelchair users to easily access the sink. Our locally sourced approach also extends to food and drink suppliers handpicked for their quality. With their help, our residents enjoy delicious meals made with the finest, locally-sourced ingredients.

Colten Care's Partnership with Langside School

We are delighted to announce our partnership with our neighbour, Langside School. The school is run by a Dorset charity, Diverse Abilities, and specialises in educating children with multiple learning disabilities and complex medical needs. So far, we have contributed to a new sensory room and have given the exterior a bright and vibrant paint job. We look forward to keeping you updated on how this exciting new partnership evolves.

Dementia Care

At Colten Care, we are dedicated to providing quality care to all of our residents. While we do not offer dementia care at Bourne View, our neighbouring sister home does. The Aldbury, which is a short distance away from Bourne View, is purpose-built and dedicated to the needs of people living with dementia, The Aldbury has a strong reputation for helping residents with even the most demanding of dementia conditions to live well. Close to Poole, an area renowned for offering a busy retirement life, The Aldbury's belief in enabling activity makes it a happy and cheerful place to be, with a strong sense of community and togetherness.

Caring Without Plastic

Colten Care has become the first major provider in the UK's private care home sector to begin a group-wide reduction of single-use plastic. This is a significant move given the care sector's traditionally high use of plastic in clinical services, person-centred care and infection control.

Here at Bourne View, we will support all of the central initiatives, but we will also work closely with residents and relatives to seek other ways our home can reduce our consumption of plastic.
